A bird is a warm-blooded vertebrate animal with feathers, wings, and a beak. They belong to the class Aves and are characterized by their ability to fly (although not all birds can fly). Birds are found on every continent and in a variety of environments, including forests, deserts, and oceans. They play important roles in ecosystems, such as pollinating plants and controlling insect populations. Some well-known species of birds include eagles, owls, penguins, parrots, and hummingbirds.
